Smile Can I have green grass in the desert?

My family and I moved to Arizona a year ago and our yard is one big barren acre of land. I have seen homes that have grass lawns, but for the most part, everybody just gets used to the sand, cactus, and tumbleweeds. I want grass. I want a green, soft lawn that I can actually go out and mow. Is it possible to have such a thing in a desert setting? What will it take to make this happen? Will I have to bring in sod or can I seed the yard myself and do a rain dance to help it grow? It’s just a little depressing and makes me quite homesick for my hometown in Tennessee. If other people have grass I know it’s possible, but what kind of effort am I looking at here? And what kind of cost will be involved? I miss my green; the desert is so brown and void of color. I need a lawn to bring color into my life. Hope you can help because most of the locals here just chuckle when I mention my idea.
