Picket fence or metal fence; that is the question

Our entire backyard is one very large flower garden; it’s like walking into an exotic rain forest from our back door. The time has come that we need to fence our back yard but I’m torn as to what kind of fence I should put up. The white picket fence seems perfect, but not always cost effective considering the upkeep and the need to paint it every other year. A metal fence makes sense, but seems so cold and kind of takes away from the mood of the Garden of Eden we have worked so hard at. Are there any other alternatives to the two types of fencing I’ve mentioned here? I’m looking for something that adds to our garden and still serves its purpose. I hope you can help me because I’m at my wits end as to which way to go at this point. Thanks for your help; I sure need it.
