Cool How do you sculpt hedges?

My house is surrounded by thick, lush hedges that I’ve purposely let grow thick and tall so that I can have them sculpted. Do you know if there are books that help a person design and sculpt their hedges themselves without having to pay high dollar for a professional to come out and do it? I have an artistic side and feel that I can do this, as long as I have some kind of specs to go by. This is not something I can do just by sight; I need a design to go by. I have one hedge in particular, that I have purposely grown on the backside of my house so that I can practice on it first; just in case I really mess it up; if I am able to sculpt that hedge than I will proceed to the others that are in plain view of all the neighbors. If you have any suggestions for me and can direct me to a book or website devoted to this type of project, I would be so grateful. I’ve let these hedges grow for two years now and the time has come to sculpt or trim.
