Question What to do with all these vegetables?

For the past five years I have planted a large vegetable garden that has produced a large bounty of produce. Every year, it seems, a good portion of this produce rots on the vine or goes to waste even though I share it with my neighbors and co-workers. I’ve never tried canning or freezing my vegetables and thought that this year I will try to save all the extras instead of letting them go to waste. Can you direct me to or post canning and freezing recipes so that I can enjoy the fruit of my labor in the dead of winter? My mother used to can beans, tomatoes, peppers, and pickles, but I never caught on to how she did this. In these times that the economy is so bad, it makes perfect sense to can or freeze the vegetables I grow every summer. I hope you can lead me in the right direction and please remember, I’m new to this canning thing so the recipes will have to be dummy proof. Thank you for your help.
