Arrow No pot to plant in

I’ve always had a small vegetable garden in my back yard but this year I’ve decided to just grow a few tomatoes, peppers, and some herbs. I’m not going to drag the tiller out for just a few items like this and decided I should use garden pots instead. The garden supply store has so many different types of pots to choose from I’m not sure what kind I need. The sales clerks weren’t very helpful as they “just work there” and aren’t garden experts. What type of pots should I plant my tomatoes in? How deep should they be and how large around should they be? How many plants should I plant in one pot? The same question goes for the peppers and herbs; I’m lost when it comes to planting vegetables in garden pots; I’ve always just planted them in the ground. Thanks so much for your help.
