Post Nosey neighbours and troublesome dogs

I have worked very hard to make my back yard into a beautiful garden where my family can enjoy spending time together. The problem is there isn’t a fence that separates our house from our neighbour’s house on either side. One neighbour has small children that tend to get toys and balls thrown over into our yard which means they often trample through my garden to retrieve the toy. The other neighbour has a dog that is allowed to roam freely and on more than once occasion I’ve had to run him out of my garden. It’s time to put up a fence to protect my garden and allow us some peace of mind. I haven’t decided yet if I should enclose the entire back yard or just the area around my garden. I don’t want my neighbours to think we are snobs, so I am leaning more towards a garden fence that will allow us to enjoy our garden and also keep out the kids and dog. What type of garden fencing do you suggest to be the most durable but pretty?
